Comedienne to spread the Love at Cleveland Improv

The News-Herald

The way comedienne Loni Love is talking, a year from now she very well could become the next comic to make a successful leap into television with her own show. However, that’s as much as she’s divulging about the deal she recently signed.

For now, she’s excited about bringing her annual special holiday show, billed as “Loni Love and the Lovers,” to Northeast Ohio for appearances Thursday through Saturday at the Cleveland Improv. Joining the 40-year-old Detroit native will be rising comedians Desean Ross and Vanessa Graddick. Love said the entire evening has a laid-back Rat Pack feel, culminating in her headlining slot.

The Miseducation of Loni Love

Sandiego.com

Comedian Loni Love started her career in comedy on a lark when she entered a contest while attending college at Prairie View A&M University in Texas. Love ended up winning the contest and gradually began performing during her college years to supplement her income while earning her engineering degree. After graduation Love relocated to Los Angeles and worked as an engineer before embarking on a career in show business that lead her to the Star Search stage in 2003. Her appearances at various comedy festivals and VH1’s I Love The ‘80s helped launch her career as a comedian and Love hasn’t looked back since. She’s become a mainstay and audience favorite on Chelsea Handler’s late night talk show Chelsea Lately, and its spinoff sitcom, After Lately. Her first one-hour special, America’s Sister aired on Comedy Central in May of 2010 and Love is currently working on her next special.

Funny kind of Love

Lansing City Pulse:

“In the entertainment industry, everyone should be represented,” Love, 40, said in a phone interview. “And I represent a lot of people. I represent the fat asses, I represent the females, I represent the black people, I represent the people that love bacon. I’m relatable because I don’t talk about just one thing.”

Loni loves club scene, dishing dumbness of others

Trib Live:

Loni Love knows dumb when she sees it.
On “truTV Presents: World’s Dumbest,” the curvy comedian is one of a Greek chorus of celebrities who render pungent verdicts on videos in which dumb criminals, inebriated wedding guests, reckless drivers and ersatz daredevils embarrass themselves. On “Chelsea Lately,” the half-hour celebrity gossip show on the E! network, she and other panelists tsk-tsk the travails of Lindsay Lohan, Tiger Woods, Charlie Sheen and other celebrities.
But Love is at her best in an intimate venue like the Pittsburgh Improv, where she opens a four-night stand Thursday evening. With her salty euphemisms and torrent of gossipy put-downs, she’s an affectionate scold from the Rabelaisian school of stagecraft.

Loni Love is ’America’s Sister’ (and ’Sista’)

Edge On The Net:

It’s rare that I agree with many magazine polls or rankings, but Variety and Comedy Central got it right when they named Loni Love among one of the Top Comics to Watch.

And you can’t help but watch her because Loni Love is all over the tube. She has been on almost every late night show you can name. She also has appeared as a guest host and/or correspondent on two handfuls of other programs. We have grown to adore her as a regular panelist on E!’s hit show “Chelsea Lately” and TruTV Presents: “The World’s Dumbest”.

Though with a much shorter repertoire of film roles, Love is an accomplished actress and held her own in last year’s hour-long, one-woman Comedy Central special “America’s Sister” which has developed into her current comedy tour.

Bacon, San Francisco and Loni Love

Huffington Post:

Comedian and actress Loni Love has brought audiences into hysterics with her witty satire and hilarious stand-up. I’ve seen her perform and even her short sets keep everyone wanting more. When not busy traveling the globe on her “Love Train” comedy tour, Love hosts E!s Wildest TV Show Moments, and recurs as a panelist on both the late night talk show Chelsea Lately and truTV’s The Smoking Gun Presents: The World’s Dumbest. Love is also a host of Logo TV’s popular series Gossip Queens, currently in its second season.

Are Modern Men Manly Enough?

New York Times:

A-list actors are getting facials in “Mansome,” Morgan Spurlock’s newest documentary, and pumping their waxed chests in Steven Soderbergh’s “Magic Mike,” one of the summer’s most popular movies.

But is all this exfoliated, chiseled perfection what women really want? And should men really be making it a priority?
